Movin' on

A few months back I wrote a post titled "Shift Happens". It was about those times in your life when you suddenly see things differently or when you head off unexpectedly in a new direction. For reasons, maybe obvious or maybe unknown, the universe gives you a little nudge, the winds change and your life, along with the energy around you, shifts its course.

Well, I find myself in the maelstrom of a "status quo interuptus".

This is what happens when you take some down time to recharge and re-evaluate. It's during that peaceful reverie, that self reflection, that the nudge comes and you find yourself bumped into a new frame of mind.

And that is not a bad thing.

To get myself moving in a new direction, I've decided to sell my house. It's something I've considered for a while and when that shift hit, I was ready to accept the change.

Yes, the process is going to be stressful, but I'm looking to the end result and I know that optimistic outlook will get me through the turbulence. Right now what I'm knee deep in and not loving is the cleaning and painting, and painting and cleaning.

There is something satisfying, though, in seeing the boxes of crap ascending out of my basement and filling up the dumpster. Something devilishly delightful in knowing the crabgrass will be the new owner's problem. Something quite jubilant about the anticipation of setting up in a new home. (I'm a Virgo, I love organization.)

The down side, sadly, is that this wild work schedule of clean up and freshen up will keep me away from the blogosphere for a while. The upside is that when I return I am sure I will have keen stories to tell about the basketball-sized dust bunnies lurking behind the dresser, lookie-loos testing my pesky nature and the plethora of nasty rental properties.

Until then, remain in good cheer and embrace the unexpected.

Oh my. Well I'm glad that you're not throwing in the blog-towel completely! *smile*

I look forward to seeing you when you come back and...

Don't inhale.

Dust that is! What did you think I meant? heh heh heh

Good luck with house sale. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all will go well and very smoothly.

Don't forget the huge killer spiders you come across. :) As you know I've downsized my life hugely the past couple of years and it's made me realize what I DON'T need and how little I actually do need. It's almost liberating. I hope you find the same!

Well, as long as you check in from time to time...if only to give us the current dust bunny stats. Best of luck with the house sale (may it be quick and painless)! What new adventures await?

I think that's a wonderful idea, Patrizia!

Nothing like a breath of fresh air, change and renewal. Plus I know exactly what you mean by the Virgo organizational high. I'm a very anal-retentive Taurean myself.

You'll see how healthy this Feng-Shui decluttering will be for you. I'm happy.

Big encouraging hugs to you. Report back once in a while and GOOD LUCK on finding the perfect new home,
Lola xx

As hard as it was to do the primping, packing and moving, the downsizing of my home and my life was liberating. I don't miss the extra 700 square feet. Not one bit. I'm living life small now, and it's fine by me. Take care, have fun and we'll hear from you soon.

I applaude you, so many people stay in a spot where they are not comfortable and cannot make the decision to move on.

Enjoy your cleaning and refresh your spirit as you refresh your home.

See you when you return.

Ugh, I do not miss the house-on-the-market every day cleaning. We used to have to do it every 6-12 months or so, when we would buy a house, move in, and fix it up while we lived there, then sell it. Due to the market downturn, we decided to stay in this house until the market rebounds so that we wouldn't have ended up working on it full time for 6 months just to break even on it. We will be going through the cleaning, touch up painting, and prettying up the yard next spring. Although, I do rather enjoy cleaning out the garage and closets to get ready for a yard sale and charity donations. It's cleansing and therapeutic somehow to let go of things.

Good luck my dear girl! You will be missed (so you have to check in every once in a while to give us and update). Fingers crossed for a quick sale of your house, so you can move on with the next exciting phase in your life!

Enjoy your move. Lots of work, but always look toward the end. You will, like you wrote have much to blog about. Hopefully lots of good.:)

What a leap of faith! I have been contemplating the same...the timing is not quite right for me yet.
I wish for you strength and energy!
Looking forward to observing the process.

Congratulations on making such a hard decision. I'm sure you will get through the stress and upheaval and be able to greet a renewing future with a smile.

It sounds like big changes coming your way. I know what it's like to downsize, as we did it recently. But we feel lighter, happier, less stressed. Congrats on the new changes, wishing you the very best!

I've been in too much denial to comment. Please don't stay away too long. Feels like the blogosphere has a black hole.

Good luck with the organization and the devilish delights!

Be well!

I always get excited when people change their lives. Three cheers. This afternoon I sat and looked at the clutter in this room and felt like I was choking. Out with the old and in with the new. And I understand the Virgo thing - several Virgo's close to me. See you when you're ready. I would lend a hand if I could.

this is pretty exciting! and i hope it is a good move for you.

you are so right about moving from a place and being thrilled that they can deal with the problems instead of YOU! sometimes it is the same when moving on from relationships and jobs.

best of luck, and can't wait to hear more. :)
