Remember when your teachers used to say…”Okay students. Take out a piece of paper. We’re going to have a pop quiz.” You groaned, you mumbled, you scrambled for paper, you cursed under your breath because you hadn’t paid attention in class or read the assigned chapters.
None of those worries here. No cursing necessary. This is a fun test. No paper or pencils required.
Take a look at the images below and decide…..are they moving? Or are they still?
How about this one?
The images are used to test the level of stress a person can handle. The slower the images move, the better your ability to manage difficult situations.
Criminals that were tested said they saw the images spinning madly. However senior citizens and kids saw them standing motionless.
For the record, none of the images are animated. They are perfectly still.
I’ve got to admit, I think it’s a good measure. I tried it this morning when I was leisurely preparing for the day and the movement was minimal. I viewed them again this evening after a crazy afternoon and there was a lot more dancing going on.
And you?

they are breathing quietly. and i feel like i am on acid again. wow. it has been a long time since i have felt like that!
ack! They make me feel sea sick! The way that they slowly begin to move is similiar to the tricks my eyes play on my just before a migrane! The bottom image moves in a slow wave when I stare at it long enough..
Apparently me and drollgirl dropped too much acid in our youth..
Interesting stuff. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
Surprisingly - still.
Our new grandson is named Dylan but in our case it is a Welsh connection.
That was fearless young Jackdaw.
Cool test! The first one didn't move, and the second one very slowly if I stared hard. I guess I'm not very stressed today.
How wonderful...! The first one rotated just slightly, but the second one hardly moved at all.
What a fun test!
SWEET! That is so amazing.
Where do you come up with these things?
Yes, there was movement...slow, undulating waves. Very peaceful, actually.
Were you ever able to do those magic eye things?
Sorry I've been missing in action. I had such limited connectivity while I was in Houston over the Memorial Day weekend, I got WAY behind in my visits.
Sure missed my blogpals!
Funny - I was thinking, Oh no - they're not moving at all - I must be so unimaginative! LOL Then I find out it's a GOOD thing they were staying still.
Pretty cool. I'll have to use that one some time.

Looking at them straight on, they are undulating slowly. When I angle the laptop back, they aren't moving at all. I attribute their slow to absent movement to 2 hours of spinning at my wheel. Must be the silk that is in the yarn...
The images only dance for me if I move my eyes, so maybe when we are stressed our eyes move more.
Just found your blog today and I'm glad I did. I'll drop by agail.
They're very still, but I hear them talking to me...:>)
you are my long lost twin with social anxiety!??!?! ha ha hah! i hope you do not have ALL of my issues! then gain i hope you do as we would have so much fun! :)
hope you have a great weekend with ZERO social anxiety!
Well, the shapes for me are spinning slowly, so I'm definitely not classified as a senior citizen - should show this one to the kids who believe I am ... !
What does it mean if one (the 'leaves)pattern moves faster than the other ('flowers')? Greater anxiety in fall than spring? Undifferentiated weirdness?
Not enough acid? or simply "up too late on a school night" so to speak.
That's just fascinating! I've never seen anything like these. Thank you, Pyzahn!
(Mine are definitely moving, but I can make them stop if I concentrate).
Yikes, now I'm dizzy!
they're just sort of .. oozing. cool!
oh, good. That made me feel better - I'm not stressed at all, that is, perhaps I am handling it well, after all.
Nice to meet you! Found you by chance through DS's blog. Also, I live here in the Gateway City!
ciao
This is so cool...
For me they move slowly, but only if I'm not looking at the images directly. The movement is visible only with the corner of my eye. When I glance over to them directly they stop moving altogether. As far as stress management, what do you think THAT means???
Ciao Patrizia, I don't know where you get all this good stuff, but it makes blogland so much more interesting!
Have agreat RELAXING and slow-paced weekend.
Like flags in the wind! I'm dizzy.
Catherine
That's awesome. I've seen something similar before, but I didn't know that they were designed to measure levels of stress.
The first image is almost still for me and the second is rippling.
This is clever.
best wishes

If you have time and do this sort of thing, I've 'tagged' you on my blog...
I'm here via rudee :-) The images are still----perhaps the calm before the storm in your other post...
