What's on your fridge?

Finally this past weekend I convinced myself I could no longer put off cleaning the house. Part of that frenzy was to strip away some of the clutter that has been accumulating on my refrigerator. Here are a few selected items.

Starting with vintage postcards...

This face always makes me laugh.

This is from way before the time of Photoshop, so I don't know if it's a manipulated image or just three really happy sibling kittens.

This is Coney Island c. 1938. Gadzooks...look at that mass of humanity.

I got this from a fortune cookie a couple years ago. I'm waiting, waiting...

Here I am looking quite pleased to be photographed with the dude who plays Jackson Montgomery on All My Children.

A friend sent this to me in a birthday card a few years back. Hardeeharhar.

I just love this comic strip, "Rose is Rose".

A few of my cutesy magnets that were yard sale finds.

This postcard doubles as a finger puppet. You can print it off on card stock, cut out the hole and enjoy hours of fun at your next party.

What's on your fridge?

Mine, for once, is fairly barren! I have one magnet (Minnesota magnet - I want to get all the states and that's as far as I got so far!) and it holds up a postcard from Stockholm I got from my sister. That's all. My fridge is minimalist, y'all!

Sadly, ours in not magnetic. Yours is great, I might even get distracted enough to forget why I was in the vicinity thereby avoiding that late afternoon sneak attack that adds up to so many lbs.

PS,
I love Tony Bourdain! I don't know why exactly. But I do.

I enjoyed looking at every single thing from your fridge. The squinting baby is precious. This house has a stainless steel fridge so I couldn't collect stuff there. I have a bulletin board instead. Aside from the usual paper umbrellas and arty postcards there's a cracked photo of my husband, all dimpled at age 2 sitting on a horse looking nervous.

You met Jackson Montgomery!? Awesome! I grew up watching AMC (my mom would watch it when we came home for lunch from school). Is he still on that show? It's been a while since I've seen it.

I am absolutely in love with your cutesy lil magnets (and it reaffirms my love of yard sales!).
Nice blog, I think I'll follow along!

Wow! You've got some wild stuff there!!!
Fun!
;^)
I did several posts on this very subject after GB at Eagleton Notes suggested that you could learn a lot about a person from their refrigerator magnets.
;^)
Two of my posts on this subject were on May 18, entitled, "Time For a Little Humor" and the other was on May 20, "More Refrigerator Magnets!"
One of my favorite subjects!

Oh my, that baby's smile is infectious!

Would not have wanted to be in that crowd at Coney Island. Awesome photo, but too close for comfort.

Very cool to be photographed with Jackson Montgomery. I have never watched AMC, but that had to be an exciting moment for you!

There's just too much truth (for a lot of us) in that birthday card! I've a few friends I'd like to send it to!

As for my 'fridge, I cleaned it off a few days ago and there are just two photos of my long-deceased dog, Sophie, and a miniature calendar with our real estate friend's picture on it. Kinda boring, by comparison.

This was a great post. Thanks for the giggles!

I can't find the refrigerator beneath all of the magnets, postcards, photos, lists, handy 'hints' etc. One thing I can find is my favorite comic clip: woman staring at fridge (after having cleared it off) and sighing, "A cluttered refrigerator may be an eyesore, but a clean one is just an appliance." Validation.

Fun post. Thanks!

Nothing. I have a brand-new fridge with a mirror/like black coating that doesn't take magnets of any stuff. Now, I look at myself full size before I take anything out to eat. Disgraceful!

and coincidentally i cleaned off my fridge this weekend. all the pics of nieces and nephews are gone now, and it is rather bare. humph. we'll see how long that lasts. :)

E's paintings, crayon drawings and those tiny poetry word magnets. And lots of unpaid bills.

Love the vintage magnets. And the finger puppet...

Hope you kept all your fridge decorations. There's definitely a lot of personal archeology there!

I now have a stainless fridge and though I can fill it up like my last fridge, I don't. I'm embracing the beauty of an uncluttered style and I'm liking it. Now, if I could only do this with my yarn, life would be good.

funny and interesting! what will you do with these items now that they are off?? in a drawer? in an album? of course you'll keep the sweet one of you, but what of the rest?

i'm just curious because it is an ongoing dilema with me, so much stuff! (that i love, but don't know what to do with!)

oh, and what a great review you did on the book and all that music, i need to go back and take some notes, thank you for that!

I bought The Missus two magnets with old pictures of housewives from the 50's. "Make Your Own Damn Dinner" and "I Dreamed That My Whole House Was Clean..."

Great idea for a post! Our fridge is covered in stuff, might have to do a response post someday.

As for the kittens, I believe it might be darkroom manipulation since they do appear to identical triplets. Before Photoshop that's how things were done. I did that on my first job in 1973 (adding or deleting people to/from old photos for example), but it's very old (and tricky/difficult) technology. I'll take Photoshop any day.

That first image made me grin!

good for you!!!! but I have to admit many of them made me LOL. Especially the first picture.

I think "cleaning" fever is going around. We had a garage sale last weekend. I hate garage sales. Now I'm going around the house saying "why didn't I put that in the garage sale?"

And I think cleaning off the fridge is the perfectly perfect place to start!

'later!

Too funny... the postcard finger puppet :)

I've just cleared my fridge to get ready for our house move.
It's currently a blank canvas.
